Set up automatic playback

Hypeman plays through an automation in Apple’s Shortcuts app. You only set it up once — it takes about two minutes. The app has the same guide under My Hype › Fix setup. New to Shortcuts? Read our full guide: how to play a sound when your iPhone connects to your car.

  1. Open Shortcuts › Automation.
  2. Tap “+” and pick your trigger. With CarPlay: choose CarPlay, then “Connects”. With Bluetooth only: choose Bluetooth, pick your car stereo, then “Is Connected”.
  3. Choose “Run Immediately” so your intro plays without asking for confirmation.
  4. Add the action: search for “Hypeman” and pick Play Connect Hype. Done.

For a sound when you leave the car, create a second automation with “Disconnects” / “Is Disconnected” and the Play Disconnect Hype action.

Troubleshooting

My intro doesn’t play when I get in the car

  • Open Hypeman › My Hype and check that a sound is set for “When I connect”.
  • In Shortcuts, check that the automation is turned on and set to Run Immediately.
  • For Bluetooth automations, make sure you picked your car’s stereo (not another device).
  • Use Test it now in the setup guide to check the sound and the volume.
  • If it works only sometimes, forget and re-pair your car in Settings › Bluetooth, and update iOS.

The beginning of my intro gets cut off

Some cars take a moment to switch audio to the car speakers. Hypeman adds a short pause before every intro to cover this; if your car is especially slow, it may still clip the first syllable.

My music doesn’t come back after the intro

Hypeman pauses your music while the intro plays and lets Spotify or Apple Music resume afterwards. If you’d rather keep your music playing underneath, turn off Pause my music during intro on any sound’s detail screen.

The AI voice sounds robotic

If the AI voice can’t be reached — for example without internet, or after using all your AI intros for the month — Hypeman uses your iPhone’s built-in voice instead and tells you why. Try again when you’re online.

I can’t use a song from Spotify or Apple Music

Streaming songs are copy-protected, so no app can use them. Upload your own audio file (MP3, M4A or WAV) or record with your microphone in Create › Your audio.

Subscriptions

  • Cancel or change your plan: on your iPhone go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Hypeman. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid being charged.
  • Restore purchases: open any paywall in the app and tap Restore, signed in with the same Apple ID you subscribed with.
  • Refunds: payments are processed by Apple — request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Delete your data

Open Hypeman › My Hype and tap Delete my data at the bottom. It deletes your AI intros and uploaded sounds from your iPhone and from our servers. It doesn’t cancel your subscription — see above. Details in our Privacy Policy.
